Low Profile, Environmentally Friendly Lighting Solutions

Fast-Dry Courts, Inc. offers lighting systems that deliver high illumination with sharp cutoff to minimize light pollution and meet all local building codes. Our lighting systems have low mounting heights (21' or 27'), minimizing the amount of light that extends beyond the court boundaries.

Durable and Long Lasting Lighting Solutions

Fast-Dry Courts, Inc. offers lighting systems that meet Florida 's toughest building codes. Some of our systems are rated to meet the ASCE7-2019 requirements, with wind loads up to 170 MPH. Our light poles can either be base mounted or direct burial, whichever fits your needs better.

Wattage and Illumination Options to Fit Any Budget

We can design your lighting system to meet USTA Class I, Class II or Class III standards.

In order to design a lighting system, we will need to get a few pieces of information from you, including:

  • The power currently available at your facility that would be available for lighting the court or courts (you may need to have the power company bring more amps to your facility)

  • The hertz (50 or 60) and voltage (120/208/240/480) currently in place at your facility

Fencing

Fencing systems are an integral part of any tennis court. The primary purpose of your fencing system is to keep the tennis balls contained within the court. However, security is another factor when it comes to choosing a fencing system for your court. Whatever your situation, Fast-Dry Courts, Inc. can offer you the ideal fencing solution for your tennis facility.

Fence layouts to fit every situation and budget

We generally try to steer our clients away from using 10' chain link fencing all around your court. Why? Because your court is your playground, not a prison! Providing 10' fencing along the baseline, diagonal corners and +/- 30' along each side of the court is usually more than sufficient to keep the tennis balls within the court. We can then drop the fencing down to 3', 4' or none at all in the center of the court to enhance viewing for spectators. This type of layout helps the tennis court to blend in with its environment and also lowers the cost of installation. However, if you are more interested in keeping people or pets off the court, we can certainly install 10' fence around the entire perimeter.

We also recommend installing 8' fence rather than 10' fence if you are building a Har-Tru court or HydroCourt. 8' fence is more than sufficient for these types of courts as the ball bounces significantly lower than on a hard court. You also need to consider what types of gates you are going to need to access the court, including a maintenance gate if you are installing a Har-Tru court or HydroCourt.

Fence hardware and mesh to fit every situation and budget

There are a variety of different grades of fencing materials available for your project. You should carefully consider which type of material you would like for the different components of the fencing system - vertical poles, horizontal poles and mesh fabric.

Vertical Poles

The vertical poles are the most important component of any fencing system. We recommend 3" diameter poles for the terminal (corner) poles and 2 ½" diameter poles for the line (middle) poles. The terminal poles provide the primary strength of the fencing system. These vertical poles are available in 3 different quality grades:

•  Schedule DQ40 - Strongest poles available and recommended for most tennis courts in hurricane prone areas

•  Schedule DQ25 - Medium grade poles for budget conscious and those not in hurricane areas

•  Tubing - Low grade poles used where cost, not long-term quality, is the priority

Horizontal Poles

The horizontal poles are used to provide the framework for the fencing, which will support the wire mesh. We recommend 1 5/8" diameter poles for most fencing systems. These horizontal poles are also available in 3 different quality grades

Fabric Mesh

The fabric mesh is what most people think of when they think of fence. The fabric mesh is what keeps the tennis balls in the court and unwanted guests off the court. We recommend a 2", 8-gauge fence fabric. This fabric is extremely strong and resistant to bending at the court surface. 1 ¾", 9 gauge mesh is also available for the budget conscious.

Basketball

Fast-Dry Courts, Inc. does not just build tennis courts. We have extensive experience in building other sports surfaces, including basketball courts. We can build any size basketball court to fit your needs, including full-size regulation courts and half courts. A standard, regulation size basketball court is 50' wide by 94' long, slightly smaller than a typical tennis court. However, the construction and color systems used on tennis courts are also used on basketball courts.

Standard Asphalt Basketball Court

An asphalt basketball court is comprised of 4" to 6" of compacted road rock (usually limestone in Florida ), 1" of asphalt and an acrylic color coating system. Once the stone base and asphalt has been installed, and the asphalt has cured for 2 weeks, the color coating process begins. The court will be flooded to reveal any low areas in the asphalt surface. A patch binder mix is then applied to fill in the low areas. Two coats of acrylic resurfacing product are next applied over the asphalt to repair any minor imperfections and seal the asphalt surface. Two coats of acrylic court paint are then applied, followed by the playing lines. Most new courts will require a four coat color system (two coats of resurfacing product, two coats of color product). You as the court owner can choose from a variety of different colors to match your tastes. Click here for a list of standard and custom colors.

The other decision that needs to be made by the court owner is the type and quality of the basketball standard (goal). We carry a wide range of institutional and residential grade standards, including both fixed and adjustable height packages.

Standard Concrete Basketball Court

A concrete basketball court can be a great solution when (a) site access makes it difficult or impossible for asphalt equipment to reach the court site (b) when a small half court is desired. Concrete basketball courts consist of one inch of concrete with a medium broom finish poured over a properly graded sub-base. It is important that a vapor barrier, usually a 6 mil plastic liner, is installed over the sub-base before the concrete is poured. This barrier will prevent moisture from being drawn into the concrete and getting trapped between the concrete and the acrylic coating system.

Once the concrete has cured, a concrete primer coat is applied to ensure that the acrylic resurfacing product will adhere to the concrete surface. The court is then flooded to reveal any low areas in the concrete surface. A patch binder mix is then applied to fill in the low areas. Two coats of acrylic resurfacing product are next applied to repair any minor imperfections in the concrete surface. Two coats of acrylic court paint are then applied, followed by the playing lines. Most new courts will require a four coat color system (two coats of resurfacing product, two coats of color product). You as the court owner can choose from a variety of different colors to match your tastes. Click here for a list of standard and custom colors ( link to color chart ).

The other decision that needs to be made by the court owner is the type and quality of the basketball standard (goal). We carry a wide range of institutional and residential grade standards, including both fixed and adjustable height packages. Bocce Courts

Fast-Dry Courts, Inc. does not just build tennis courts. We have extensive experience in building other sports surfaces, including bocce courts. A standard, regulation size bocce court is 10' wide by 60' long, considerably smaller than a typical Har-Tru tennis court. However, the construction of a bocce court is very similar to the construction of a new Har-Tru tennis court.

Bocce Court

A bocce court is comprised of +/- 3" of concrete screening sand and 1" of Har-Tru surfacing material. The concrete screening sand and Har-Tru material is contained by a pressure treated wood, composite, concrete block or poured concrete border. The border will usually include a series of drainage holes or custom trench drains to facilitate water removal after a rain or watering. A typical bocce court will require 85, 80 lb. bags of Har-Tru material to provide 1" over the court surface. We also often install an automatic irrigation system of 1 or 2 sprinkler heads to irrigate the court.  We also install synthetic turf surfaces infilled with sand and premier oyster shell finish bocce courts.

Shuffleboard Courts

Fast-Dry Courts, Inc. does not just build tennis courts. We have extensive experience in building other sports surfaces, including shuffleboard courts. A standard, regulation size shuffleboard court is 6’ wide by 52’ long with a 6’ 6” standing area at each end, considerably smaller than a typical tennis court. However, the construction of a shuffleboard court is very similar to the construction of a new concrete tennis court. We are also available to resurface or re-stripe your existing shuffleboard court.

Sprinkler diagrams and layouts

Har-Tru tennis courts require water for proper maintenance. The watering cycle should begin as soon as feasible after play ends for the day. Watering as early as possible allows maximum time for the surface water to disperse before the courts are opened in the morning.

Har-Tru courts need as much water as it takes to “flood” the courts daily. Flooding is defined as having water stand on the entire court area. Water from the areas that receive the most water from the sprinkler heads must flood into areas that receive less water until the whole area is covered or flooded. Water needs to drain through the Har-Tru surface and penetrate the base material. The moisture is stored in the base until the surface begins to dry out. Once the surface begins to dry out, evaporation will pull the moisture from the base up into the Har-Tru surface to keep it moist.

Fast-Dry Courts, Inc. is an expert in sprinkler systems for above ground irrigated Har-Tru courts. Har-Tru tennis courts need a properly designed sprinkler system in order to maintain adequate court moisture levels. An efficient sprinkler system includes:

  • Proper design

  • Adequate water pressure

  • Adequate water supply

  • Proper size and type of pipe, sprinkler heads and nozzles

  • Proper solenoid valves and controller
